Some toilets behave for a while after a reset, then slowly start rocking again and eventually leak at the base. In this SW Calgary home, the downstairs toilet had been reset multiple times over the years, but the same problem kept coming back. The fix was to address the connection point at the floor so the toilet could be set solid and sealed properly.
The Call
The homeowner told us the toilet had been reset at least five times. After each reset it would eventually start rocking and leaking again. The bathroom had a ceramic tile floor, and the flange was sitting about 3/8″ to 1/2″ above the tile. They suspected the flange had warped over time from repeated tightening, and they were ready for a long-term fix.
