Toilet Reset That Finally Stayed Put in SW Calgary (Woodbine)

Job Details

Some toilets behave for a while after a reset, then slowly start rocking again and eventually leak at the base. In this SW Calgary home, the downstairs toilet had been reset multiple times over the years, but the same problem kept coming back. The fix was to address the connection point at the floor so the toilet could be set solid and sealed properly.

The Call

The homeowner told us the toilet had been reset at least five times. After each reset it would eventually start rocking and leaking again. The bathroom had a ceramic tile floor, and the flange was sitting about 3/8″ to 1/2″ above the tile. They suspected the flange had warped over time from repeated tightening, and they were ready for a long-term fix.

What We Did

  • Removed the toilet and inspected the flange and mounting surface
  • Installed a red ring repair closet flange and secured it firmly to the concrete floor
  • Installed a new wax ring to create a proper seal between the toilet and the flange
  • Set the toilet, fastened it securely, and verified it was stable with no rocking
  • Tested for leaks after installation

The Result

  • The toilet was reset on a properly secured flange
  • The toilet was stable and sealed correctly
  • No leaks were observed at the time of service
