At this home in Palliser, the kitchen drain had that thick, black buildup you sometimes find in older cast iron piping. Our technician opened up drywall to reach the cleanout, ran a sewer inspection camera through the line to see exactly what was going on inside, then used mechanical cleaning equipment to clear out years of rust and buildup, flushing and re-checking the line until it was flowing properly again.
The Call
The homeowner asked us to take a closer look at the kitchen drain line running through the basement, wanting a clear picture of what was happening inside the pipe before a small issue turned into a bigger one.

A couple of other things came up while we were on site, and we handled them the way we handle everything, with a clear explanation and no pressure.
- Tightened the dielectric union on the hot water tank as a precaution, after the homeowner mentioned a past leak
- Installed a water leak alarm by the hot water tank for early detection
- Talked through a tub drain concern with the homeowner, a hair-catching attachment had fallen into the overflow drain, and since a bathroom renovation is already on the horizon, we agreed it made more sense to keep an eye on it for now rather than open up the wall
