At this home in the Willow Ridge area of Diamond Valley, a blocked kitchen sink drain needed to be cleared. What looked like a single blockage turned out to be two separate obstructions — one under the sink and another further down near the basement cleanout. Our technician worked through both, tested the line thoroughly, and ran a camera inspection to check the condition of the drain beyond the clog.

The Call

The homeowner called about a kitchen sink that wouldn’t drain.

What We Did

Removed the drainage piping under the sink to gain proper access to the line
Attempted to clear the blockage with a 5/8″ sectional auger, advancing it roughly 10 feet before hitting an obstruction it couldn’t clear
Switched to a smaller Milwaukee bucket auger, which broke through the blockage and moved debris further down the line
Had the homeowner help by flushing the kitchen sink while accessing the basement cleanout
Cleared the below-slab drain from the basement cleanout
Ran three full flood tests to confirm proper flow with no backups
Completed a camera inspection to check the overall condition of the line

The Result

The kitchen sink drain was successfully cleared, with flow confirmed through multiple flood tests
No backups were observed at the time of service
A camera inspection found roughly 15 feet of backgrading in the line downstream of the basement cleanout
Because of the backgrading, the homeowner was advised that the line is prone to recurring blockages and may need further corrective work down the road
